Kadoz: A Free Neighbourhood Giving Platform
Kadoz is a free Android application designed to connect neighbours who wish to give away items with those looking for them. It aims to reduce waste by facilitating the exchange of usable goods such as furniture, bicycles, and kitchenware that might otherwise be discarded. Users can quickly list items by photographing them, with Kadoz automatically recognizing the item and estimating its size for potential recipients. The app ensures a seamless exchange process by enabling users to communicate and agree on pickup times while maintaining privacy regarding their addresses.
The application features a unique location system where items are displayed approximately 150 metres from their actual location, ensuring user confidentiality until they choose to share their address. Kadoz also prioritizes user privacy by stripping metadata from photos before upload. Available in French, Dutch, and English, Kadoz includes an accessible mode with larger text and buttons, making it user-friendly for everyone. This innovative platform encourages reuse and community engagement without advertising or data selling.
